Shadow Chase
DESCRIPTION
Shadow Chase, a game inspired by the movie 007 - Casino Royale. In this platform shooter, your mission is to follow a dangerous criminal without being detected by them or their military bodyguards. Utilize weapons to rid your path of obstacles and enemies, but don't go too crazy since your ammo is limited. If an enemy spots you, or hears a suspicious sound, the alarm will raise and the chase begins. Will you be able to catch up to your target and complete the mission? Come and find out!

MY ROLE & CONTRIBUTION
I implemented the combat mechanics and user interface systems. My responsibilities included developing the combat systems including player punch mechanics, weapon collection and throwing systems, and implementing various weapons like the AK rifle. I created the complete menu system with main menu, pause functionality, and settings options for volume, resolution, and fullscreen modes. I also implemented tile maps and level visuals, created the checkpoint system for player progression, and added the level completion mechanics. Additionally, I worked on game polish including bullet collision fixes, enemy weapon drops, medical kit collection, and visual improvements.
CORE CONCEPTS
The project explores mechanics such as line-of-sight detection, alert states, and resource management in action-stealth gameplay. It applies principles of level design for pacing and tension, as well as player feedback through visual cues and enemy behavior. The balance between stealth and action was designed to influence player choices dynamically.
TECHNICAL ASPECTS
Shadow Chase was developed in Unity using C# for all gameplay systems, including movement, combat, and AI detection. The game features a custom 2D platformer controller, a basic stealth system with sound and vision detection, and a limited ammo mechanic. Pixel art visuals were created with external tools and implemented as sprites with layer-based rendering.
