DESCRIPTION

This project was developed as part of the "Sistemas de Entretenimento" subject from the video games course at Universidade Lusófona, using an LED display controlled via a Wi-Fi server through an Arduino. Users can create and control pixels directly on the display from any device connected to the Arduino’s Wi-Fi network. The main idea is to allow the creation of collaborative and interactive digital art, where multiple users can contribute in real-time.

MY ROLE & CONTRIBUTION

I handled the hardware assembly and physical construction. My responsibilities included researching and sourcing materials for the display construction, soldering RGBW LED strips and electrical components, assembling the custom display structure, and managing all cable wiring for the Arduino system. I also contributed to the initial concept development and ensured proper hardware-software integration for real-time LED control.

CORE CONCEPTS

This project applies concepts of embedded systems, wireless communication, and real-time user interaction. It explores collaborative digital art creation by combining hardware control, web development, and network management. Principles of user experience design and system integration were applied to create an accessible and interactive installation.

TECHNICAL ASPECTS

Pixel Painting was developed using an Arduino microcontroller hosting a Wi-Fi server to control an RGBW LED display. Users interact through a web interface accessible via any browser connected to the Arduino’s network. Inputs are processed in real-time to update the LEDs, providing immediate visual feedback. The system combines addressable LED strips, a custom-made display structure, and a lightweight web server for remote interaction.
