DESCRIPTION

Forgotten Memories is a hidden object puzzle game where players help Alex care for his grandmother's house as she suffers from dementia. Using camera mechanics, players explore the family home to discover misplaced objects and return them to their correct locations. The game features inclusive design for players with colorblindness, with objects distinguishable by their shapes rather than colors. Players navigate through different rooms including a kitchen and bathroom, using photography to document and collect displaced items while following a narrative about family care and memory.

MY ROLE & CONTRIBUTION

I focused on UI systems, audio management, and user experience. My contributions included developing the menu system with navigation logic, implementing audio management scripts, creating the settings system with camera sensitivity controls, optimizing camera controls (speed and zoom), organizing scenes and project structure.

CORE CONCEPTS

This project explores accessibility in game design, addressing colorblind accessibility through shape-based object recognition rather than color dependency. It demonstrates environmental storytelling through a narrative about dementia and family care, photography-based gameplay mechanics, and inclusive design principles. The game shows how themes can be integrated into puzzle mechanics while maintaining accessibility for different player audiences.

TECHNICAL ASPECTS

Forgotten Memories was developed in Unity using C#, featuring a camera system for object photography and collection, automatic zoom functionality for interactive objects, room navigation through door photography, and inventory management with shape-based silhouettes. The game implements accessibility design with colorblind-friendly visual elements, controls, and UI systems that prioritize shape recognition over color dependency.
