Company Roulette
DESCRIPTION
Company Roulette is a Virtual Reality experience developed in Unity 6 as part of the course 'Realidades Expandidas XR' from the Video Games degree at Universidade Lusófona. The game was only tested with the Meta Quest VR headsets. In this intense psychological showdown, you play as an overworked employee who has finally had enough. You march up to the 42nd floor to confront your eccentric billionaire boss and demand a well-deserved raise. But instead of negotiations, you’re met with a twisted game of chance - one where every decision could mean doubling your salary or losing your job on the spot.

MY ROLE & CONTRIBUTION
I implemented the VR interaction systems and technical mechanics for this office simulation game. My responsibilities included programming the gun systems with magazine loading/unloading, gunshot mechanics, and reload animations. I developed the interactive office elements including coffee drinking mechanics, stamp placement with hand detection, and flashlight functionality with dynamic lighting effects. I also handled the audio implementation with spatial 3D sound effects, collision-based audio triggers, and created custom shader effects for the revealing system.
CORE CONCEPTS
The project applies concepts from interaction design, player agency, and physical interaction in VR. It explores decision-making under uncertainty, the use of risk-reward mechanics, and environmental storytelling to frame player choices. Elements such as turn-based structure, limited resources, and variable outcomes are used to support gameplay decisions.
TECHNICAL ASPECTS
Company Roulette was developed in Unity 6 with the XR Interaction Toolkit for VR implementation. The experience was designed for seated play using Meta Quest headsets. It includes hand-tracked, physics-based interactions such as grabbing and loading magazines, inspecting items, and activating objects. Lighting, sound, and animation systems were implemented to support the functionality of each mechanic.
